In case you have never seen a baby eat, I’ll let you in on a little secret, they are messy. Whatever they are eating, mixed with a good amount of drool, will end up all over. They often end up wearing more than they actually consume. The only way to attempt to keep their adorable baby clothes clean is to make sure they are always wearing a bib during feeding time. Keeping an adequate stock of organic bibs is a necessity for parents.

With the mountain of pressure and responsibility, new parents have, choosing the right bib for your baby as well as the environment might be an afterthought. Luckily, we did the research for you on the top organic bibs.

There are three main categories of eco-friendly bib materials: organic cotton, bamboo, and recycled materials. Each material has its costs and benefits for the environment, so the one you decide is best is entirely a personal choice. Lets discuss each type of material for these organic bibs and highlight some of the leading brands.

Organic Bibs Made of Cotton

Organic cotton is one of the best materials for eco-friendly clothing. Normal cotton is one of the dirtiest crops. It is sprayed with some of the worst pesticides such as aldicarb, paraquat, and glyphosate. These chemicals, along with synthetic fabrics that breakdown into microfibers, find their way into our waterways.

Since organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful chemicals, it leaves the soil, air, and water free from harmful contaminates. Organic cotton production takes 71percent less water and uses 62% less energy than conventional cotton.

Blaynk goes one step further and produces all of its organic bibs in a factory that runs on wind power. They only use rainwater in production of their bibs. In fact, their bibs are made of only 3 things: organic cotton, rainwater and wind power. I don’t know how they could possibly reduce their environmental footprint any further

Organic Bibs Made of Bamboo

Another great material for sustainability is bamboo. Bamboo can grow up to a meter a day and can grow to full size in just 3-4 months. It requires very little water and is grown without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. Not only is wearing bamboo fabrics better for the environment, but also quite comfortable. Bamboo is softer than cotton and hypoallergenic. Also, bamboo is breathable and will help keep your baby cool during summer picnics.

Baby Bibs Made from Recycled materials

Purchasing recycled products has many benefits for our planet. It protects the environment by using fewer resources and reusing products that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Recycled plastic bottles use 2/3 the energy it is used to make a new one. It also supports environmentally responsible companies such as EarthHero. Earthhero makes this waterproof baby bib from recycled polyester from post-consumer plastics. The adorable whales printed on the bib will thank you for helping to keep plastic out of their stomachs.
