As parents have become more environmentally conscious with their purchasing decisions, organic baby clothes are more popular than ever.

Not only are we worried about the potential negative health effects that synthetic materials and chemicals may have on our babies, we also are concerned about the environment we will be leaving for our children and future grandchildren.

The most commonly used material for baby clothes, cotton, is extremely bad for the environment. If you want to read about how bad traditional cotton production is for the environment, you can click here.

I won’t get into all the details, but just know that It takes 713 gallons (2,700 liters for the non-Americans) of water to make a single cotton t-shirt!!!!

Traditional baby clothes production is terrible for the environment, plus our babies will quickly outgrown them. Luckily, there are eco-friendly baby clothes options for concerned parents.

In this article, we will discuss the most popular brands and show some of our favorite options for each particular type of organic baby clothing you are looking for.

As always at yourorgnicbaby.com, we will discuss the companies not only in terms of the quality and popularity of the clothes they make, but also the corporate business practices.

We like to buy from companies that are committed to fair treatment of employees and giving back to communities and nature.

Without further ado, lets get into our top 10 favorite organic baby clothing brands, followed by our favorites from each category.

Top 10 Organic Baby Clothing Brands

Under The Nile

Organic cotton baby pajamas by Under The Nile Organic Baby Clothes brand

If you are as Bananas about this adorable footed onesie and Under The Nile organic baby clothes brand as we are,  click here to shop.

We had to start out our best organic baby clothes list with one of our favorites, Under The Nile. Under The Nile brand is one of the most socially and environmentally conscious companies you can find.

For starters, like many others on our list, their products are certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and have a Gold Seal of authentic Egyptian cotton.

Their organic baby clothes are produced in a certified fair-trade facility from a woman owned business. Many local populations are exploited in the garment trade, Under The Nile makes sure this does not happen in their supply chain.

They have started a school for underprivileged kids near their farm in Egypt. They take children living in poverty, near their farm, and try to uplift them.

They feed them 3 meals a day, and give free health care and clothing while teaching them life lessons. Some companies just donate money to a non-profit, which is great, but Under The Nile brand rolls up their sleeves and helps directly.

Where they really set themselves apart is their environmentally friendly farming techniques. They grow all of their cotton on a biodynamic farm. You might be wondering, that sounds good but what is a biodynamic farm?

We were unsure at first as well. A biodynamic farm is a self-sustaining farm that has no imported materials. Animals, crops, and soil are a single, sustainable system.

If you want to purchase some extremely soft, organic, Egyptian cotton baby clothes, your search should start and end with Under the Nile.
