So it’s that time, time to make one of the biggest purchasing decisions for your baby, what crib to choose… Your baby will spend up to two thirds of its first year sleeping, so its important we keep them away from harmful toxins in their very own non-toxic crib.

We have assembled a list of 10 of the best eco-friendly cribs that should have something for everyone. We even made an easily sortable table, so you can find the best crib for you based on what you value the most in a crib. Before we get to the list, there are a few things we must know so that we can better understand what non toxic crib means.

We aren’t going to fluff the article, blabbing on about every toxic chemical and how they are bad for your baby. If you are reading this article I will assume that you are well aware that many products contain chemicals that may be harmful to us. If you want to go down the rabbit hole and research the potential consequences of every toxin, go ahead. This article is not that.

Here are a couple things we must understand. All legally sold cribs in the U.S.A. Must be certified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Most will also be certified by the Juvenile Product Manufacturers Association (JPMA). These two certificates will show that the crib is safe in protecting us from unreasonable injury or death. Also, any products designed for kids under the age of 12, will be tested for lead and phalates.

Most cribs on our list are Green Guard Certified. Green guard goes the extra mile and tests for over 10,000 chemicals and VOC emissions. If a crib is Green Guard Certified, it means it definitely is a non-toxic crib.

Does this mean a crib that isn’t Green guard certified is a toxic waste pit? No, it only means the company choose, for whatever reason, not to go through the certification process. Now that we got that out of the way, lets get to our list, starting with our sortable table of features.

Table of Contents

Sortable Table of Features

If you don’t want to read all of the details, we created an easy to navigate table so that you can sort the best non toxic crib list based on the features that are most important to you. Below the sortable table we discuss our methodology for the ratings. Please note that this table represents the best available information our research discovered at the time of publishing.

Methodology

Price

The prices are based on the official store site in the Amazon marketplace or the price listed on their official site. Some of these products have third party sellers that might sell at a higher or lower price. The listed price is only for the listed price and does not include shipping.

All of these cribs are convertible and have various priced conversion kits. The price in the above table does not include the price for the conversion kits. The price of the kits can be found in the review for each product.

Reviews

The reviews are based on the Google Shopping profile, which are based on customer reviews and data from Google and/or its partners. If we couldn’t find enough reviews on the Google Shopping profile, we used the official store in the Amazon Marketplace. The minimum number of reviews for this table was 100. The products that have a 0 on the table did not have at least 100 reviews on Google or Amazon at the time of publishing.

Materials

The score for materials is somewhat subjective. We based the score on if the cribs used sustainable materials and if the claims made are backed by any certifications.

Green Business & Labor Practices

Another subjective rating, we based this score on the eco friendly business policies in the whole product life cycle, how employees are treated, and if the claims made by companies are backed by any 3rd party certificates. A score of 0 does not necessarily mean that the company dumping toxic chemicals in our oceans and using slave labor, it just means we could not find any information about any green initiatives or fair labor practices.

Charitable Giving

This rating was based on the information we could find about any charities or foundations supported by the company. The details of each charity can be found in each individual products description and review.
