Not All Organic Labels Are Created Equal

Once you start exploring packaging and labels on organic baby formula, you will find different organic certifications. For organic baby formulas produced in the USA, you will find two main certifications:

• USDA Organic- This means that at least 95% of ingredients are certified organic.
• Made with Organic Ingredients- To put this on a label, companies must prove that at least 70% of the contents are certified organic.

Some organic baby formula producers will also put additional claims or seals on their packaging such as Non-GMO or No Artificial Growth Hormones. If the formula is USDA Certified Organic, that already means it can’t contain GMO’s or Artificial growth hormones.
